We designed a rough blueprint that showed the basic shape of our golf course
Then we measured how large we wanted the whole course to be, after we measured we got the wood and cut out our shapes
After cutting the wood we fit turf to the wood and cut it, then glued it down to the boards
Next we got black felt and stapled it to the edges covering about an inch of the turf
After we cut out more wood blocks as the trim, we drilled it on top of the felt, real close to the edge
And finally after getting our whole board in order we started putting our obstacles on it
Obstacles:
First, Water representing submarine warfare in World War One and how submarines were commonly used to attack enemy ships. Britain and Germany(rival countries) were the two countries that used submarines more.
Next, A representation of a trench in World War One. Trenches were used for soldiers to hide under and fight the enemy.
Following the trench was a wall labeled "95%" with 5% cut of symbolizing the amount of people that died from the Spanish Flu which is also known as the Flu Pandemic.
After, we had mustard gas which was a toxic vapor chemical that soldiers threw to other trenches, it dispersed quickly and caused soldiers skin to blister and eventually killing them because they didn't have any protection.
And lastly, we had blockades. Showing how blockades were made which the Central Powers set up in order to stop food transportation to the Allied Powers.
Humanities: For the humanities part of this project we had to research upon a topic that our group agreed on. After we researched the topic, we searched subtopics that we were interested in and wrote an essay. Lastly, we made an obstacle that correlates with our topic and subtopic.
Math: We used quite a bit of math in this project. Firstly we had to draw up a blueprint and figure out the appropriate measurements for the whole golf course. Then finding the sizes of the turf, trim, and felt. Next, we had to think about the size of our obstacles and the placement of it on our boards. But finally, we had to find the easiest way to get a superior shot using the line of reflection, slope, and isosceles methods.
Multimedia: The multimedia part of this project was making the logo. Everybody was required to at least make one logo. We did a gallery walk and chose the best logo. After that we were expected to create a video that was informational about a character that dealt with our topic but at the same time describing our obstacles.
