To share our VR worlds at the faire we can have a large poster indicating each VR idea and a line where they can try it out near the corresponding advertisement. Developing the VR content was not hard at all. Because our teacher allowed us to choose a topic ourselves, we were able to find things that we were interested in and put it into action. Specifically for the video I am working on, the audience will be acting as a person walking and looking around and experiencing a Lysergic Acid Diethylamide trip (commonly known as LSD or ACID). In hopes to eliminate the chances of a person curious to try it out.
We are hoping the the viewers will walk away being aware of the trip and hopefully not partake and spread the word that is very hard to come out of it and it is very dangerous. Realistically I am not sure how viewing our video will influence anothers VR. I think that it is a self thing and you'd really have to think about it on your own and produce something that means something to you. Influence is cool, it's great, but it has to be an individuals work. That way it is original. I think that having facts present in the video will also help the viewers realize and understand the process and the major danger it can cause to one and others and the large influence on society period. Dewey's idea is that democracy and education are very much intertwined. In the project we are more focused on the earnings rather than the purpose of the project or the main reason why we are even producing it. I feel like the educational aspect is being ignored because there is another addition that is making us shift our focus for a grade. Pink's thesis is pretty much that people's focuses have shifted from the main project to the reward. When something is being advertised and there is a reward, cash or product, people change their motivation from the project to the rewards forcing the project we were once so passionate about into a task. In school this is the equivalent to most school projects. Our teachers give us an itinerary for a new extension and then attach a grade to the end, so the topic we choose is no longer something we are passionate about, it is something we are forced to do for a reward. For a grade. Here it is most definitely unfair because teachers are not receiving the students work to the best of their abilities and we are not showing that.

A celebration I have this week is finalizing the video theme and process of my producers. This was very beneficial for me because I finally got to visualize what the edits are going to look like. Also, the footage was finally shot, so with that being done I am able to start editing now to start adding saturated color effects for a psychedelic result.
An example of cognitive dissonance I encountered was hearing how one cares for animals and really cares about their lives and well being but is steady eating meat. I feel like since you care that much, you shouldn't take part in eating poultry. It is going against what you believe when you feel a way and do something that contradicts that. In that situation, I left it alone. I confronted the person about it, but I did not continue to bring it up to them. I feel like it's your choice but it was a very hypocritical thing to do. Hashtag Activism didn't change my mind at all. I feel like hashtags do work in a couple of cases. One being the fact that people from all of the world have easier access to communicate with others through hashtagging without have to individually and manually search for people who are interested in the same topic and or share the same views. Two being the fact that it shows how many people are involved and care about the current events. Through hashtagging, it brings awareness of the tragedies and celebrations that are going on. Three being building a community. I feel like when we are all on the same page we are being brought together and realizing that we are not alone and that we have each other. The reading I found the most convincing was the one by Shaina. It didn't persuade me, but it was strong enough to let me see the other views and understand them. With discussing the reading with my peers it made me realize and be more open minded about hashtag activism. My plan for earning an A is to receive the video footage I need in order to edit it with saturated effects to create a psychedelic trip. Also, I want critiques from my producer about color effects.
My perspective on what constitutes reliable news hasn't changed from reading articles. It makes me still believe the sources are unreliable. I do not think the every news source is inaccurate, but some. I think I am more of a critical consumer because I take in information and think about it hard. Also, when I hear something super serious I have to follow it up to see for myself. I don't believe that everything is true from the news. They're human and we are too and we all make mistakes. I think that it is important because people should be aware of how easy it is to be persuaded by the people's words. It sometimes can be a life or death situation. What is working well so far is everything. I am using my time wisely to expand my knowledge on editing 360 videos and adding animated effects. I've noticed problems in many areas with this project. Mainly the organization of it. The project designers keep adding things on while we are becoming acclimated to our individual projects so everything our producers have planned out perfectly aren't adequate anymore. I would fix the project by making sure all the ground rules are enforced in the beginning rather than in the middle. Also, I'd totally eliminate the money part because that is super irrelevant.
A strategy I find useful to use in a distracting work place would most definitely be listening to music. When I listen to music I cannot hear other people so I do just that and mind my own. Or a better solution would be to remove myself completely. I think words can be used in many different ways. I think that strong words will be more persuasive and make someone really think in depth. Also, I feel like depending on your tone or even the topic it can influence another person in different ways (negative or positive). There wasn't anything that was super disturbing to me there was just one that I wasn't too keen on. Longevity. I am not trying to live for a long time. At one point I want my life to end. I don't want to live forever because I am afraid of what the technology is going to be like.
The job fair was very interesting. I was super stoked when I had my first interview and she told me she wanted to hire me. I think that it made me learn that I am passionate about the arts. A reading we did in English this week was about advertising. Advertising does shape our society in a a negative way and positive way. Negative because they use words that trigger your mind to think something different from what it actually is. There should be stricter regulations because some people may not be able to grasp what they are really trying to say. Also, because it can be falsely utilized. I feel like they should say what they have to and be done instead of beating around the bush. |
