This part of my digital portfolio will highlight some of activities or investigations that we do in our Math/Physics class.
- "Light Out" Challenge For the challenge stated above we had to create a flashlight using only: * 1 plastic bag *Aluminum foil *A bulb *1 Wire *Coins *Paperclips To create this flashlight we had to figure out a way that some materials were being used to light up the light bulb. Also we had to make it to where we could switch it on an off so that it was not constantly staying lit.
- "Conductors and Insulators" For the "Conductors and Insulators" Challenge we were required to make a bulb we were given light up. We were given conductors such as, pennies, paper clips, etc., and insulators such as follows, paper, plastic, etc., to try and make the bulb light. Conductors are objects that keep the energy flow going and help transfer the energy to the bulb. Insulators are objects that do NOT help the flow of energy, so that means that if you put an insulator between a battery and a bulb the bulb will not light. I learned that typically the conductors are some sort of metal, or silver, or aluminum, or iron, or even gold. Also, insulators have no metal fragments and if some do then it isn't heaps of metal.
-"Barbie Bungee" For the "Barbie Bungee" lab we had to measure her height. After we measured her height we had to do some math and figure out how many rubber bands it would take for her to have a perfect jump from a tall staircase. After we all guessed how many rubber bands it would take, we got that amount plus 1 then tied them to Barbie. We later dropped her from the staircase and judged who won. Who got the perfect fall closest to the ground but not to much?? My team!! (-; Congrats to us!
