That's a wrap for internship. Oh, how I will miss it so much! It was good while it lasted. Below I have attached my powerpoint that I will be presenting tomorrow.

An appreciation I have working here was obtaining teaching skills. I got to teach one on one with the students and it really helped me learn. I was able to learn to slow down and go through it with them, rather than just explaining the process to them and letting them stray. With the way I taught, I saw a major difference because they were able to grasp it easier, doing it with me. With the students around me, I could tell some were really passionate about video production as I am. But, when it comes to editing that's where I really am and that's what I take really serious. The students that I saw that shared this same passion, weren't super serious, but not really goofy. They had some humor and some fun. They weren't perfectionists. From this, I learned that I have to ease up and have a little fun with my job because it's okay. I found what I really want to do. I know that now, I am capable of completing more advanced work in a quick amount of time while still being neat. I am deciding to take an editing class in college as minor. I think this will do me really well. It's amazing to watch a really video and say the you did that and to show people, it's just amazing.
I was told that I made a meaningful contribution to the workplace because I was really helpful. I not only helped students and taught them somethings, I also found lost shows and edited them, as well as the recently filmed shows. My mentor said that I helped a lot in that aspect because that specific task was very time consuming. This internship is very meaningful to my education because this is one of three careers I'd like to follow through with during and after college. This has helped me get more insight of what I will be doing because I am more advanced in this field. Beyond school, this is absolutely great. There's an organization that has wanted me to film and edit stuff for them, but I never felt comfortable because I didn't think my work was 'up to par'. But now, I am confident they will enjoy my work, so therefore I will be accepting any tasks for that organization without a doubt. Also, I get to work with a professional and hopefully score a job with higher companies. A project I was assigned to was creating the promo video from the school, I am not entirely finished because I haven't started filming, but the final product will be a great and high representation of CPMA. I will be coming back to CPMA during my own time to supervise the hand selected students shoot the video and to edit the shots. I learned how much of a passion it is for me to be working here, doing this. Specifically editing and interacting with the kids, showing them what i know that they don't. It's amazing to see their faces and answer their questions because they didn't know somethings. I still don't know somethings because I am still learning, so I make it clear to them, I am not a know it all. I am just like them. I did not know who much I really enjoy editing, until I got to do it all day everyday. Without a doubt, this is what I want to do.
The elements from my internship that can be brought to our classrooms are broadcasting and organization. I think that if we can broadcast and hype up all of the things we have going on in the nearby future as a school and village, can make a better outcome. It would definitely help with getting students excited to attend school events and make them fun. Something that I think that our school needs improvement on is organization. HTHI is a very unorganized school. All of them are, actually. CPMA sends out notifications of upcoming events in a timely manner and we do not. With sending out permission slips and advertising, I would say our school is very lazy. We lack the pride which makes the face of our school seem very effortless to engage students because everything is rushed. We have planners for a reason, but don't use them. We should. HTHI needs to get it together.
I read Xenia, Lizzy, and Ashley's blog posts, and I really enjoyed them. All of their internships are so cool, I want to try it out on my free time. All of their descriptions were amazing which made it seem like I was really there. That gave me a good amount of insight about what they are doing and even about the facilities they are in. By the way they all were describing their work, it seems like they are really enjoying it.
My internship is no completely different from the school I attend, but it is quite a difference. Although this is a middle school, I expected for there to be some type of freedom like our school but not as much, because they are middle schoolers. Here, at CPMA, they have bells. Bells that mark when each class has started and ended. and even lunch bells, letting them know it's time to start walking to class. Another difference is the amount of classes they have. They have seven class which mount to: 2 electives, 1 period of homeroom, and 4 core classes. At HTHI, we have 3 class (5 periods) and switch each semester. Also, they call their teachers by the last name with a prefix in the format of: Mr. Thomason, the principal, or my mentor, a teacher, Ms. Warren. My responsibilities have been to make a more efficient way to check equipment out to the the students. That was a pretty big task because when I am gone, they have to keep the system efficient without any troubles. I was also asked to write the new promo video, which has a lot of attention drawn to it because that is what makes our school even more attractive. Now I am working on editing the Choir Showcase that was shot on Tuesday, January 12th. When I am done with this task, my job for the entirety of my time here, is to edit all of the lost shows that my mentor and I found on a few external hard drives. Internship has made me think more about my future because I forgot how much I love to edit. I was editor all through middle school doing the same thing I am now. I can say I have definitely gotten better. But I love it, it gives me some type of feeling that's indescribable. I am thinking about having this be my second major..... Bringing this back to our school, I think i may have a conversation with Chris Mutter about getting together a team and shooting broadcasts for our school about upcoming events as well as passed.
Lately, I have been editing shows that we had lost footage to. First, I found the shows looking through many hard drives and then imported them and lastly got to start editing. My next project is to edit the choir show that took place last night. When I finish that, I will be assigning my students to help me with shooting the promo video that I wrote up. Then, I will edit that video and have my mentor approve it to be in the next school broadcast.
As discussed before, my internship is at a middle school in Clairemont, CPMA. Here at my internship site, I am mainly in a classroom, unless I am supervising the kids outside shooting videos or taking pictures. When I am present in the classroom, I am surrounded by a large promethean board, 37 Mac desktops, 3 Mac laptops, 12 tri-pods, 25 still cameras, 13 video cameras, 14 many microphones, a countless number of SD cards, and 28-35 students. Also there is a studio strictly for shooting the weekly broadcast. Below, there are six photos, each with a short description of what's being exhibited. Today has been very relaxed. I finished the outline for the new promo video and gave it to my mentor. Also, today I continued to search for lost footage on those external hard drives. I am shocked that I found three shows. Being here at my internship, makes me miss this class. When I attended CPMA I was enrolled in the Video Production class all three years along with Art. I really enjoyed myself and gave sort of a rush. Editing videos, is my favorite part of Video Production. I am super excited to shoot and edit the promo video I drafted up! Being alumni and meeting new kids, I was nervous about the kids being totally out of control. But, they actually adapted to me pretty quick. Most of them are so sweet and kind and funny!
Today was a very laid back day. I watched the school promotion video that the students created, and was asked to make a new promo video. For a good portion of the day I worked on the outline of the video. Also, today I worked on finding lost footage on external hard drives from when I attended this school. I haven't yet obtained new skills or strategies but really look forward to it! I like everything about my internship! I love the work, my mentor, and even working with middle schoolers. I love to write scripts for videos as well editing (after they are shot, filming isn't my favorite).
